School is here…Are you ready?

The beginning of school always seems financially burdening and time consuming for any family, but it doesn’t need to be that way. Our mindset as parents must be stable in order for kids to see that school will be both achievable and rewarding. After all, the further they progress, the more they believe school is truly the devil. Absolutely, do NOT give into this attitude. Engage positively and encourage him/her to research or ask about their futureambitions. Negativity will have no impact on any child that dislikes or has issues in school. Communication with your kids (or lack thereof) will make or break any situation. Ask questions; Is something bothering you? Do you remember things when studying? Is there bullying involved? Are there vision problems? There are so many small questions that, along with the teacher also unaware, you have a child failing a class. Some kids can read something over and over again but not retain it, while others will be set after the first time. Learning styles absolutely matter so this is something to keep in mind. Finally is absolutely necessary and has nothing to do with school; family time. Make sure there is room for the entire crew to take time and relax together, even if it’s at the dinner table nightly, or game nights on Friday or Saturday. Everyone loves parks! Grab a box, throw a bag of chips, buns, a bottle of ketchup and mustard, and some heated up hotdogs, and leave for an hour or two. Take a football or softball and just goof off! There is nothing more important than just letting go of stress. Once that stress builds up, it’s difficult to get back to normal and kids bounce back slowly.
