The online fitness world is saturated with trainers, YouTube, and Instagram videos. Unfortunately, there are just as many new to their journey that attempt to teach others that, although noble as it may seem, detriment typically follows. I began my fitness journey in the military; first simply doing annual tests, then becoming the tester trainer. I also fell in love with running, completing anything from 5k to 50 mile trail runs. These were absolutely beautiful but I absorbed myself so much into that world that the injuries compiled to failure. So, I resorted to lifting, quickly bulked up from a scrawny stature due to distance running, and began teaching what I knew from that as well. I also began taking college courses in kinesiology and nutrition along with personal trainer certifications. Years have passed and I did NOT keep up with these certifications when I left the military. However, I have noticed walking around gyms, even on military bases, that a genuine need for change in the fitness industry as there are so many “teachers” that simply need to get back to the basics before reinventing the wheel. I’ll occasionally post some things that frustrate me and I see going around, or just ask questions; I absolutely don’t mind helping.
